Mostonians Amateur Football Club
Founded 1935
On August 2nd 1934, a group of local young men met and formed a football team which was to be called Moston Nomads. The team played 1 season in a local league.

In season 1935 - 1936 it was decided that the club would join the Lancashire Amateur league with 2 teams under the name of Old Mostonians AFC. In season 1937 - 1938 the 1st team didnt lose a game.

Due to the 2nd world war, the league was suspended. During this perios 37 out of 39 members of the club enlisted in the armed forces.

The 1950's was the 1st of the clubs successful periods. Harvey Reeves scored 10 goals in one second team games in the 1952 - 1953 season.

A third team was formed and entered the league in season 1957 - 1958.

Tradgedy struck in 1966 when Norman Ainsworth died after playing in a 2nd team game.

The 1980's was the 2nd successful period for the club, its 3 teams finished runners up in their various divisions in seasons 1980 - 1981. The 1st team were runners up in the premier division in 1983 -1984, then premier division champions in 1989.

From 1980 - 1990, ten players were selcted to play for the league team and played in numerous games during this period.

The 2000's have been the latest successful period for the club, due to the decision taken to attract and recruit mainly 16-20 year old local players.

From 1935 to the present, the club have been truely NOMADS, playing on 12 different grounds.

The 1st and 2nd teams played on a private pitch inside a local hospital from 1969 - 1992, then moved to its present ground.

The club have currently 4 teams in the Lancashire Amateur League.

The club have in its history only 6 presidents, 9 chairmen, 7 treasurers, and 8 secreteries. The longest serving being, J BASNETT treasurer 1937 - 1975. JE RICHARDSON president 1957 -1982. E FLETCHER social secretary then CHAIRMAN 1946 - 1987. B POWELL secretary 1966 - to the present day, who was secretary of the year in 1981.
